People Go Eyeball Licking To Show Affection In Japan

People sure do strange things for love, but Japanese students are taking love-induced madness to a whole new level - and putting their health at risk in the process.

This is the latest craze sweeping through Japan;  'oculolinctus' - eyeball licking as an expression of affection between young lovers.

Teens are using the act of licking one another's eyeballs to show affection, like some would do with hugging or kissing, ABC News reports. This act may have been inspired by the Japanese band Born, which features eyeball licking in a music video.

"It's a very dangerous trend, says Dr. Robert Cykiert.

The bacteria could be transferred from this act could lead to a higher risk of conjunctivitis and a possible corneal ulcer. Cykiert also says scarring on the cornea could become permanent as well, depending on what bacteria is transferred to the eye via licking.

This is so….(short of words)
