Six-time Stellar Award-winner and GRAMMY®Award-nominated recording
artist, VaShawn Mitchell performed at the memorial service kickoff event for the
commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Medgar Evers. The somber event was
held at Arlington National Cemetery on June 5th.
Mitchell
sang his hit song “Nobody Greater” from his top-selling, award-winning album Triumphant to a
crowd full of clergy, dignitaries and political leaders. The compere of the
event was Roland Martin. Some
of the persons in attendance included Mrs. Myrlie Evers-Williams, chairman Emeritus, National Board of
Directors NAACP; former President William
Jefferson Clinton; current NAACP President, Benjamin Jealous and US Attorney General Eric Holder.
