Marvin Sapp's School Gets Approval For Expansion

Grand Rapids charter school has received approval to expand to offer classes for younger students.
The school is located at 670 Burton SE on the Campus of Kingdom Square. The school was founded by Grand Rapids Pastor and award winning gospel music star Marvin L. Sapp. Lake Superior State Univerisity is the charter authorizer.
The School (Ellington Academy of Arts & Technology) will begin offering school for students from Pre-K to 5th grades in the 2013-14 school year. The school just opened in September of 2012 with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and is already adding 9th grade in 2013-14.

The Academy will officially accept enrollment applications through March 25, 2013 and will host a lottery April 8, 2013 should the number of applications exceed available seats. Enrollment will continue until 75 seats per grade K-9 capacity is reached. There are also 16 seats each available for the AM/PM Preschool program. Enrollment applications for Pre-K to 9th grade are available online at www.greaat.com/students . Students enrolling this fall will also be required to attend a summer literacy program, one of the many extended learning assessment strategies for ensuring high performing academic success.
